About the Brand
Inspired by the relaxed yet sophisticated California outdoor lifestyle, the essence of Nicki Huggins Studio is rooted in the reimagining of modern American outdoor furniture from the golden age of 1930-1970, while simultaneously creating innovative designs that speak to today's aesthetic sensibilities. Each piece, whether a historical reissue or a new creation, emerges from a deep commitment to quality materials and conscious manufacturing.
A passionate outdoor furniture historian, Nicki Huggins re-issues two significant chairs that solidify Los Angeles's reputation as the birthplace of modernism in America.
The R6 chair, circa 1935, represents the melding of the early modern era with the ambition of the machine age. It's stainless steel bends are formed from six different radii, R6, to create it's timeless appeal. A channeled outdoor sling, created with nearly as much engineering as the chair, ensures ergonomic seating, outdoors or in.
The R4 chair, circa 1946, was originally produced by the Deeco Company in Burbank as World War II was ending. It's also made with stainless steel tubing that's been electropolished for maximum durability. And, like the R6, it's upholstered with PFAS-free outdoor fabrics to comply with current sustainability concerns. The R4 has also been updated with a custom outdoor webbing and stainless steel buckle system.
Like the originals, the R4 and the R6 chairs are made in Los Angeles. And, all Nicki Huggins furniture is Made in the USA.
The brand honors the legacy of the past while remaining firmly anchored in the present, cra ing timeless pieces that are as much at home outdoors as they are inside. By making this furniture again, and making it sustainable, these pieces and their stories will live on.
