                                               LOOK WHO’S WALKING!

“Look who I ran into today! Hadley Mercer, our baby that we did the kitchen for in Louisville! And, she’s walking all over the place!,” beamed designer Nicki Huggins in her note to Quick-Step that accompanied snapshots of her walk with baby Hadley. “Seeing her thriving, it was just meant to be!” said Nicki, about her chance meeting with Hadley while she was vacationing with her family.

Nicki Huggins is the designer for Antonio Sabato, Jr.’s hit design series “Fix It and Finish It” that renovated the Mercer family’s 65 year old kitchen making it safer for them to bring Hadley home from the hospital. At six months, Hadley had endured rounds of chemo and a bone marrow transplant.

QuickStep Floors was one of many companies including Kohler, Silestone, Benjamin Moore Paints, Haas Cabinets, Cardinal Kitchens, ProMaster, and White House Painting that participated in the family’s renovation.

“Our brand was privileged to be part of giving the Mercer family a brand new kitchen following their baby Hadley’s cancer treatments,” said Paij Thorn-Brooks, vice president of brand marketing for Quick-Step.

In this week’s episode, The “Fix It” team gives the Mercer family a modern and functional kitchen update.  A beautiful, new Quick-Step floor was part of the renovation. “It was my hardest one-day reno and a labor of love for everyone involved,” Nicki says.

Found Drawings 1991 – I remember being inspired by words, their meanings, or the feeling of their meaning, and trying to capture that in a piece of furniture, in this instance, a chair. My life had become very challenging at that time, so my response to all the hardship was to create something every day, usually whimsical, to remember to smile. Words and Whimsy were where I was coming from, and today, this still puts a smile on my face.
